Phosphate is classified as a non-metallic mineral and is an inorganic compound

: Phosphates in Egypt and phosphate extraction areas in Egypt
Sedimentary phosphate rock (calcium phosphate) [Ca3 (PO4) 2] is one of the most important mineral deposits in Egypt and used as a raw material for the chemical and fertilizer industries
Egypt’s phosphate production started in 1908
Egypt owns 4% of the global reserves of phosphates, equivalent to approximately 5 billion tons, and produces the equivalent of 3% of the global phosphate production.
Egypt’s annual phosphate production reaches 3 million tons
Egypt exports more than 2 million tons of phosphate annually
In 2015, Egypt’s production of rock phosphate reached 6 million tons annually
Egypt occupies the sixth rank among the countries of the world in the production of phosphates, while Egypt occupies the second rank at the level of Arab countries according to the report of the American Geological Survey
The phosphorous ratio in Egyptian phosphate rocks ranges from 20% to 30% and humidity levels less than 4%.
Therefore, Egyptian phosphate rocks are considered among the pure rocks in the world. Therefore, they are exported to several major industrial countries, including Japan and Indonesia
Phosphate ore is found in Egypt in an area of 750 km along the Red Sea and the Dakhla Oasis
And among the largest phosphate mining mines in Egypt of economic importance are Jabal Dhawi, Al-Atansh, Al-Hamraween and Abu Tartour, which contain the largest phosphate reserves in Egypt, with an estimated value of 1,000 million tons, these are the most famous phosphate mines in Egypt

: Uses of phosphate
1- One of the most important uses of phosphate ore is used as a main component in the manufacture of agricultural phosphate fertilizers, and that is its importance in fertilizing agricultural land with elements that help it improve the quality and quantity of crops. This industry requires specific proportions of phosphorus pentoxide P2O5 with a concentration of 30%, and calcium carbonate with a concentration 5%, and aluminum and iron oxide with a concentration of 4% or less, which is what is characterized by Egyptian phosphate rocks. Phosphate rocks are used to produce superphosphate, nitrogen phosphate and compound fertilizers, or crushed phosphate rock is used directly on the soil
2- Pesticide industry
3- Iron and steel industry
4- The phosphoric acid industry used is mining, war, medical, food, ceramic, textile, and matchsticks.
5- Production of livestock food
6- Pharmaceutical industries
7- Food industry
8- Feed industry
9 – Chemical detergent industry
10 – Chemical industries
11- Cement industry
12- Extraction of the primary phosphorous that does not exist as a free element in nature and is extracted from phosphate rocks which are mixed with other minerals, where phosphorous rocks are heated in furnaces containing silica and carbon to produce evaporated tetrahosphorous, and then it is condensed to a powder White for a portfolio of oxidation, and disturbs many chemical industries, such as manufacturing cosmetics, personal care products, mouthwashes, nutritional supplements and fire extinguishers
13- Production of calcium phosphate, by adding calcium to phosphorous compounds, for use as a polisher in toothpaste
14- Production of Triacium Complex by adding calcium to phosphorous for use in many other industries, such as toothpaste, fungicides, anti-corrosion, animal feed, preservatives, water treatment, and the field of mineral study and use
15- Extraction of some rare minerals and radioactive elements such as uranium, as one ton of rock phosphate ore contains 200 grams of uranium.
16 – Petrochemical industries
17- Thermal phosphorous
18- Treating metal surfaces, such as copper, iron, aluminum, and nickel-coated iron
19 – Cheese and baked products
